I had a very disappointing experience at SA Textiles, Varanasi. I was sold a saree described as “pure handloom Banarasi” and was charged ₹10,000 per piece. After purchase, I got the saree checked independently and found that it was powerloom (machine-made), not handloom. When I went back to the shop with this concern and requested a refund, they refused to return the money and only offered exchange. Even during exchange, the prices quoted for other sarees were significantly higher than normal market rates. Silk Mark only confirms silk fibre, not handloom weaving, but this distinction was not clearly explained at the time of sale. Overall, my experience was misleading and unsatisfactory. I would strongly recommend buyers to verify the weaving type carefully and compare prices at multiple shops before purchasing here.
